Thankfully, over night, the surf
died down a bit (but it’s still very choppy out there and the wind remains
high). The weather was a real mixed bag today. It started off with a glorious
sunrise coming up over Italy,
but by about noon it was overcast over the shore (but clear out at sea – a strange
phenomena I have noticed happens here), and by 1 pm it was RAINING (GASP!). The
rest of the day was full of intermittent showers and grey, while the sun shone
like crazy over the sea. As I write even now (7pm), there is thunder and the
odd sprinkles on land, while looking due south (towards Africa!)
the sky is clear and blue.
This weather sort of put the
kibosh on doing much outdoors, so I set into reading my novel – “The Bourne
Objective,” while Paul enjoyed the numerous real estate magazines that we pick
up while we’re out, along with doing some of his puzzle books and getting into
his new novel, “The Bride of New France” (or some title like that).
Today, I must confess that we
delved into the pastry foray… we had 2 croissants each and I, of course,
succumbed to the delight of my favourite dessert after supper, Tart Tropizienne
(a brioche based cake sandwiched together by a THICK layer of pastry cream that
has been lightened by the addition of whipped cream). It’s truly one of the finest desserts you can have
and very difficult to find outside of Provence/the
Riviera.
I made a mistake in yesterday’s
report – the brocante is not on Thursdays, but Fridays. So we have that to look
forward to – but even more exciting – it’s my Birthday Lunch to be held at the
Mirazur restaurant – the home of double Michelin Star holder Mauro Colagreco. I’ll
try to discretely snap some pics of the food… and the view from the restaurant
is exquisite. I’ll be raving about it tomorrow (I hope!).
As an aside – I have been a
little alarmed by how long it takes to upload the photos to the blog – and I have
been unable to upload videos. I since have discovered that I have been shooting
videos in Hi Def (so they would take forever to load!) and my pics have been in
a resolution format big enough to print 16 x 20”. So, although I do not have a
video to share today, I have knocked down the size of the photos (today there
is a combo of both) and will try to start posting videos soon.
Today was mixed weather and a
high of 19C.
