Greetings, everyone, from the sunny French Rivieria!

After a long trip by car, taxi, international flight, domestic flight, bus, then train, we arrived in Menton and at our little apartment at 2pm local time yesterday, April 16th.

The past 2 days have seen glorious weather, with temps of about 22C and sunshine. There is a persistent breeze that cools that temperature off a bit, but makes it pleasant for sitting in the sun.

We’ve taken an apartment this year in a building called “The Hawaii.” We have a top floor, corner unit that has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and a sweeping, panoramic view of the mountains behind the village, across to Italy, south over the Mediterranean sea and west over the old town of Menton. We are in the suburb of Garavan bay (where we like to be), which is about a 10 or 15 minute walk into the old town that you see in my video. We are a less than 1 minute walk to the Italian border, and surrounded by shops, bakeries, grocers, the whole bit. Very convenient!

Today (the 17th) we managed to get into town where I went to the SFR store (like Bell Telephone in Canada) and recharged the minutes on my 3G internet stick. We’ve been grocery shopping (Paul made me a terrific couscous and chicken salad for supper last night, with decadent profiteroles from the local bakery for dessert. We were too tired to go out to supper), and laid in all the essentials to be self supporting. I forgot my bathing trunks, so we’ll have to get some in the next few days.

It’s the 17th of April, so we want to say Happy Birthday to Carolyn Sharp on her birthday.

More from the Riviera later!
