The first full day

That's right - PRORITY!

The sun rises over Italy for our first day!

We have had an excellent start to the 2013 spring vacation, I can tell you!

Destination - Monaco/Menton
Things got off to a roaring start when Air France upgraded us to business class. It’s a tough life, but somebody has to lead it, you know! That, of course, comes with all the other assorted perks, such as access to the business class lounge, with big, comfortable over-stuffed chairs, complementary massages, free wifi, and all the food and drinks (including champagne and other alcohol) we would like to consume.

I was all ready feeling comfortable and low stress as we were escorted from the business class lounge to the gate by our hostess… “Platinum members for priority boarding!” she called out to the attendant at the gate, who unceremoniously told the economy passengers to make room for us. “Welcome to your flight this evening, Mr. Jarsky & Mr. Gordon – you’re in seats 7K & L” she commented, personally escorting us from the gate, down the gangplank and directly to our seats,  as the porter carried our carry-on luggage beside us.

I could go on and on about our ultra-luxurious, lie-flat seats with a host of amenities and the exquisite meal on china with silverware, but it would probably just bore you.

Anyway – we got into Paris on-time, and with our “Sky Priority” status, were whisked through an exclusive line for security and passport control, and made our connection to Nice in plenty of time. We landed in Nice to haze & cloud, so I was unable to see my favourite sight – the snow on the mountains – but our Priority status meant our luggage was unloaded first (and Paul’s luggage made it this time) – so we were able to catch the 11:45 express bus to Menton (via Monaco/Monte Carlo!). We were met promptly at 2 O’clock at the apartment by the agency.

An even smooth trip got even better – upon entry to the apartment, we were thrilled to find that it has been entirely re-painted, all the upholstered furniture was steam-cleaned, and there is a new bed!

How lucky are we?

This morning we awoke to GORGEOUS sunshine and headed into town to do some shopping and see what was new. Our luck held out when I went into SFR to add credit to my internet account – since last year they have DOUBLED the amount of gigs and dropped the price by 5E! Hurrah!

We spent the rest of the day taking in the sun and warm temperatures – and that was it!

It’s great to be here and we can’t wait to let the adventure unfold!
